The Salzburg Card is Salzburg's official tourist card offering one-time free admission to over 20 attractions as well as free use of public transportation (24, 48 or 72 hours).

Included are: Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mozart's Birthplace & Residence, Hellbrunn Palace, Haus der Natur, DomQuartier, Zoo, Stiegl-Brauwelt, Museum der Moderne as well as Fortress Funicular, Untersberg Cable Car, Mönchsberg Elevator and Salzach River Cruise. In most cases yes – just three to four visits pay off. Hohensalzburg Fortress (approx. €18), Mozart's Birthplace (approx. €15) and Haus der Natur (approx. €15) together cost around €48 – the 24h card is available from €35. The Untersberg Cable Car is particularly worthwhile (single price approx. €34). With a 72h card, savings of over €60 are possible.

Important: You will first receive a digital voucher by email, which must be exchanged for the physical Salzburg Card on site. Exchange points:

  • Tourist Info Mozartplatz 5 – daily 9am–5pm (Jan–Mar: closed Sundays)
  • Tourist Info Südtirolerplatz 1 (Main Station)
  • Shuttle bus No. 18 to the Old Town

Only the physical card entitles you to admission – allow some time for the exchange.

The time only starts with the first use of the physical card – not at purchase or exchange. Example: First use at 10:00 AM → card valid until 10:00 AM the next day (for 24h). Tip: Only activate the card in the late morning for maximum use.

Valid for: Obus lines 1–14, Albus lines 20–28, 31, 34–36, 151, Lokalbahn S1/S11 to Acharting as well as selected Postbus lines to surrounding areas. Obus line 2 to the airport is also included. Not valid for ÖBB S-Bahn lines.

No. Each attraction can be visited once for free. Further visits to the same attraction are chargeable.

There is no dedicated fast-track entrance. However, you save time since no ticket purchase on site is necessary – at many attractions (e.g. Fortress Funicular, Haus der Natur) you can go directly to the entrance.

Yes – unredeemed vouchers can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge up to 24 hours before the visit date. After redeeming and activating the card, no refund is possible.

No. The card is personal and must be issued with your name. Transfer to other persons is not permitted.

In case of loss, no replacement card will be issued and a refund is excluded. Keep the card safe and secure your original voucher as proof of purchase.

The voucher is usually valid for several months – the exact date is stated on your voucher. The 24/48/72-hour period only begins after exchange and the first use of the physical card.

The package includes the Salzburg Card (24, 48 or 72h) as well as an English-language Old Town walking tour with a licensed guide in a small group (max. 25 people) – including highlights of the Old Town, Mozart sites and Mirabell Gardens. Cheaper than buying both tickets separately.
