The Salzburg Card is the official tourist card of the city of Salzburg. This physical card gives you free entry to over 20 sights and museums (e.g. Hohensalzburg Fortress and Mozart's birthplace) and free use of public transport in Salzburg.
The card is available for 24, 48 or 72 hours and is valid from the first use for the corresponding duration. During the validity period, you can visit all included attractions once and also receive discounts on some concerts and excursions.
Important: The card is personal and non-transferable; it is available for adults and children (6-15 years reduced; under 6 years mostly free).
First choose the right version of the Salzburg Card. There are cards for 24, 48 or 72 hours - decide which duration is ideal depending on the length of your stay and planned program.
There are also two price categories: Adults pay the full price, children (6-15 years) about half price. Prices are slightly higher in the high season (summer) than in the low season.
The best way to buy the Salzburg Card is conveniently online in advance (via our website at the official ticket partner). Select the desired period of validity and number of tickets and pay online (e.g. by credit card).
You will then receive a voucher as an e-mail confirmation of your purchase.
When you arrive in Salzburg, you must exchange the voucher you received online for the actual Salzburg Card.
To do this, go to an official issuing office (e.g. Tourist-Info on Mozartplatz or at the main train station). Show the voucher you have printed out or shown on your smartphone and you will receive the physical Salzburg Card.
The card must be activated before it can be used for the first time. To do this, enter your name and the date and time of first use on the back of the card.
From this moment on, the selected period of validity runs continuously. Wait until you are ready to start your tour before entering your details so that you can make full use of the card.
You get access to the attractions without additional tickets or reservations: Show your valid Salzburg Card at the ticket office or at the entrance - it will be scanned and you will receive free admission. You can visit each included attraction once free of charge.
As you don't have to buy a ticket, you save waiting time at the ticket offices.
Public transport: The card is valid as a ticket on all city buses - show it when boarding or at an inspection.
Please note: The S-Bahn (local train) and regional buses outside the city are not included.

You can exchange your online voucher for the physical Salzburg Card at the following redemption points in Salzburg:
Please note: The Salzburg Card is not a digital card. You need the physical card to gain entry to the attractions. Therefore, allow some time for the exchange before you start your sightseeing tour.
Step 1 - Redeem your voucher: After purchasing online, you will receive a voucher which you must first exchange for the physical Salzburg Card at one of the official redemption points (Tourist Info at Mozartplatz, at the main train station or on shuttle bus no. 18).

The card isnot valid on ÖBB S-Bahn lines (rapid transit) in the greater Salzburg area.

Yes, Salzburg Airport is connected to the network by city trolleybus lines - these buses are included in the Salzburg Card.
For example, trolleybus line 2 runs from the main train station to the airport and can be used free of charge with a valid Salzburg Card. Please note: You need the physical Salzburg Card for this - so exchange your voucher at a redemption point before you travel.
There is not generally a separate fast-track entrance in the sense of special express lanes in Salzburg.

There is a reduced Salzburg Card for children and young people up to around 15 years of age - they pay around half the regular price.
Small children under the age of 6 do not need a Salzburg Card, as they usually have free admission to Salzburg's museums anyway. For adults there is only the standard rate - there are no special discounts for senior citizens or students.

Unfortunately, no replacement can be issued if the physical Salzburg Card is lost. You are not entitled to a replacement card or refund - so treat the card as a valuable document and keep it safe.

It cannot be passed on to other people - the card is only valid for the person who purchased it. The voucher is also personal and may not be passed on to third parties.
The voucher received when making an online purchase usually has a longer validity period (often several months) within which you can redeem it. You will find the exact expiration date on your voucher.
Important: The 24, 48 or 72-hour validity of the Salzburg Card only begins after the voucher has been exchanged and the physical card has been used for the first time - not from the date of purchase of the voucher.
